About Us

In 2004 we decided it was the right time to buy our first Shar Pei, We had loved the breed for many years but it was not until we got our own house, we were in the position to buy one.  Me and my partner started researching this beautiful unique breed for a year previously and had learned everything we could from books internet and other experienced breeders from around the world.
As we learned more about the miniature Shar Pei breed we realized how hard it was going to be to get our hands on our dream mini Pei puppy.

We found loads of Shar Pei breeders here in the UK but not mini and Toy Shar Pei breeders, when I found out the size the Shar Pei would grow to I new the smaller mini's are what we want.  After months of searching for a mini Shar Pei puppy I gave up here in the UK, and realized I would have to import.

I found a good American website with Mini and Toy Shar Pei's so gave the kennel a call and I put a £300 deposit down on a Toy Shar Pei puppy, in total the kennel told me £3,000 for the puppy, unfortunately this man had took advantage of my lack of experience and stole my deposit, this left me upset and feeling I would have to except that I was not going to be able to buy a Mini Shar Pei.

We went to a breeder with standard size show quality Shar Pei this is where I got my first Shar Pei, wrinkles.  We became addicted to the Shar Pei breed and having a pet wasn’t enough for us, we wanted to go one step further, so we learnt about breeding for quality and health and temperament, it became it big part of our lives.

Although we loved the standard Shar Pei's, I still really wanted a Mini Pei. I wrote email's to all the quality Mini and Toy breeders from America and Canada and learnt lots from them, how they started out etc and they have kept in touch with us ever since, I have lots of support for the Mini Pei from abroad but not much support from breeders here in the UK.  We were still determined to buy a Mini Pei, after four years of searching, we finally managed to get a little blue mini girl and then a year later a lilac girl to begin our mini breeding program (Russian imports) we have never regretted our dedication and I will stick by the Mini Pei and fight for this small breed of Shar Pei.

The next step was to get other people here in the UK interested and my website which has been a great success and I would like to say a big thanks to everyone who got in touch with us by phone and email to give their support in what I am doing, I was overwhelmed by the response from the British public.

PLEASE READ THIS!!
My local paper was interested in my kennel and wrote a nice story on me and my dogs, unfortunately the bigger tabloids got a hold of the story and used it to there advantage adding bits onto it to make it more interesting read for it's readers, I was very angry and upset by some of the write ups and there was nothing I could do about it.
I would like to let everyone know that visit Jens House Of Wrinkles that the write up from the Sunday Mail was not accurate or approved by me and I would like to emphasize that this story was NOT QUOTED by me. I was told there would be a retraction from the Sunday Mail the following week after I complained, this was not carried out, So I would like everyone to know that I do not regard the Shar Pei as ugly but one of the most unique and beautiful breeds of the world.
I was very upset by the paper write up on my Shar Pei's and would hate for anyone reading the story to think I breed my dogs to make a fortune, I have a small number of dogs and do NOT sell my dogs for £2,000 as anyone who has bought or is buying a puppy from me will verify.
My dogs are loved and well looked after they are given the attention they need and deserve as I only have a small number of them.
